Clinical Case Conference 2 (open)
Contributions From Child Psychoanalysis: Supervisor/Therapist/Patient: The Fragile Alliance
This Clinical Case Conference addresses the challenges, pleasures, and benefits of psychotherapy supervision. Videotapes are shown by two experienced supervisors, first a patient/psychotherapist encounter, followed by a discussion between that therapist and his supervisor. Presentations illustrate the intimacy and challenges of the supervisory process, emphasizing that therapist and supervisor must feel safe with each other and that such feelings of safety are as essential to therapist and patient feeling safe with one another as they are to the supervisory process. Good supervision teaches the student not only about another, but also about his own inner responses to others.
