Media Theatre 1 (open)
Web-Based Wisdom: Viewpoints on Mentoring in Child Psychiatry
This Media Theatre works to increase awareness of the challenges faced by child and adolescent psychiatrists, particularly at early stages in career development, and of the importance of mentoring in meeting these challenges. In addition, this program increases awareness of web-based free resources that provide information about mentoring while discussing specific hurdles that mentors can assist mentees in overcoming. Data is presented from several studies and surveys that demonstrate how mentoring can be implemented successfully and what aspects of mentoring are the most important for promoting career development. Interviews are reviewed with prominent child and adolescent psychiatry clinicians and researchers. This session also specifically discusses how women and child psychiatrists pursuing academic and research careers can benefit from mentorship.
