Throughout their clinical work, child and adolescent psychiatrists are interacting with families. Families also need to learn from child and adolescent psychiatrists about their child’s problem and how best to pursue recommended treatment. Participants learn useful family therapy interventions, which can be part of their practice of child and adolescent psychiatry. Methods of integrating family interventions into other mental health treatments are discussed; as well as methods of supporting family treatment and family change within the practice of child and adolescent psychiatry.
