Poster Begin a submission

POSTER sessions are 2.5 hours in duration. Posters are the format of choice for data-rich research or clinical reports. Posters that have been accepted in the past have been hypothesis driven, not just descriptive. They have included data tables, data graphs, and suitable statistical tests. AACAP will not accept submissions that do not include complete data analysis, even if that analysis will be completed by the October meeting. Acceptance of a poster for presentation is an honor, and it holds the same status as any other Annual Meeting presentation. In addition to offering an opportunity for clear and detailed presentation of the data, there is a greater opportunity for interaction and discussion between the author and interested attendees.

Posters are generally not suitable for single case presentations. Use the Clinical Case Conference format instead for case presentations. When preparing the poster submission, please indicate the method of subject diagnostic ascertainment, description of the sample frame the subject was drawn from, and a description of the recruitment methods. IRB approval is required if human subjects are involved. There are two Poster deadlines: February 18, 2014 and June 16, 2014. The second opportunity is only for Posters with data available after the February submission deadline. Primary Authors present data in tabular or graphic form on an 8 ft. long by 4 ft. wide poster board or smaller. Approximately 350 Poster presentations are available.

All accepted posters must display all disclosures for the presenter and all of the authors (financial conflicts of interest, honoraria, travel grants, etc.) in the top right hand corner of the poster in at least 12 point font. Failure to disclose will result in eviction from the poster session.

The following information is required:

  • The title of the submission
  • The primary author's contact information and email address
  • Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee review status
  • Educational learning objectives
  • One Review Abstract that includes data ("Review Abstract" is the term used by the Program Committee for the 8,000 character (approximately 1,000 words) document each presenter must include with his or her submission. It is your chance as a presenter to explain your ideas in detail to the Program Committee so that they can full evaluate the merit of the submission.)
  • Professional Practice Gap Identification
  • One Proceedings Abstract ("Proceedings Abstract" is the 1,400 character abstract that is significantly shorter than the Review Abstract and is used for publication in the Annual Meeting Scientific Proceedings Book.)
  • Each author's name, affiliation, contact information, email address, and disclosure of affiliations
Please note the following additional guidelines:
  • The Review and Proceedings Abstracts should not be identical. Submissions that are solely literature reviews are not acceptable.
  • Case series will be considered but must include detailed, rigorous quantitative measures that support interpretations and conclusions.
  • Analyses should generally be complete. Submissions that only promise future data analyses in time for the meeting will not be considered.
