WORKSHOPS are 3 hours in duration. Workshops provide instruction on treatment, research method, delivery, or organization of services. Workshops can have a maximum of 30 participants.

This format encourages audience participation in a hands-on, focused learning experience. Workshops provide instruction in a particular clinical, research, or other technique for debate or discussion among a small audience. The objective for workshops should be “tell the audience what you are going to teach them”, the methods should be “how you are going to teach it, including who will teach what, whether there will be handouts etc.”, and results should be how they will be able to use the knowledge.

When you define the topic, the goals and the methods, specify the contribution of each presenter. Provide clear educational goals and indicate how the Workshop will work toward attaining those goals. Provide a clear description of the method of teaching in the Workshop. Also provide a specific description of teaching materials and a timetable for your Workshop in the submission.

Participants purchase a ticket to attend a Workshop. Submissions about clinical techniques should include a brief description of or reference to the scientific evidence for and limitations of the treatment technique. This is not the forum to spend all the time presenting evidence. Workshops have a maximum of 3 presenters; a cast of thousands just doesn’t work.

The Workshop chair may claim up to $75 for reimbursement for the cost of copying handout materials (receipts must be submitted). Workshop presenters will also have the ability to upload their presentation materials to AACAP's website before the meeting for Workshop participants.

The use of handouts is strongly encouraged. All accepted submissions must display full disclosure slides to the audience. Approximately 40 Workshop spaces are available.

The following information is required (see Grid):

  • The title of the submission
  • The chair’s organization and email address
  • Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee review status, if applicable
  • Educational learning objectives
  • Professional Practice Gap Identification
  • One Review Abstract for the entire Workshop
  • One Proceedings Abstract
  • Names, organizations, contact information, email addresses, and disclosure of conflicts of affiliation for all co-presenters
