Workshop 27 (sold out)
Learning Disabilities: Implications for Psychiatric Diagnosis and Treatment

A significant number of patients seen by child and adolescent psychiatrists have learning disabilities in addition to their psychiatric difficulties; therefore, it is critical that psychiatrists understand the characteristics of these disabilities and their impact on functioning. This Workshop helps participants gain a better understanding of the characteristics of various types of learning disabilities and an increased awareness of the impact of these disorders on the functioning of their child and adolescent patients. Participants learn to understand the results of the psychoeducational diagnostic process and integrate that information into an effective treatment plan.
