Special Interest Study Group 6 (sold out)
Pediatric Obesity

Pediatric obesity represents an increasingly important public health problem, which is particularly problematic among children and adolescents taking psychotropic medication. This Special Interest Study Group summarizes current approaches to pediatric obesity. The significance of pediatric obesity is reviewed, with a special focus on vulnerable children and adolescents, such as those with binge eating disorder. Participants discuss advantages and drawbacks of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment approaches to obesity, including healthy lifestyle interventions. Challenges specific to psychotropic medication-induced obesity are also addressed.
