College and Student Mental Health

Child and adolescent psychiatrists are well positioned to provide both direct care to patients transitioning from high school to college; and to provide psychiatric consultation to college mental health settings. This SIG ascertains the nature and extent of involvement of child and adolescent psychiatrists with this population, with a focus on treatment needs and current modes of providing mental health services to college-age populations, and explores the role child and adolescent psychiatrist can play in aiding patients transitioning to college. It also raises awareness of legal considerations. Come formulate ideas to improve access and utilization of care.
