Out In the Silence: A Film about Being a Gay Teen in Small Town America

Out in the Silence explores the difficult challenges that gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people face in rural and small town America. This award-winning 2009 film, powerfully documents these challenges in Oil City, Pennsylvania; capturing the events that unfold at the announcement of a wedding between two men, which ignites a firestorm of controversy. Attendees learn to identify barriers to healthy psychosexual development in gay and lesbian adolescents, as well as ways to overcome them.
