Institute 8 (ticket)
Practical Pediatric Psychopharmacology for Primary Care Clinicians

This Institute provides practical information to primary care clinicians on the use of psychotropic medication within their practices when treating common childhood psychiatric disorders. Presentations include discussion of clinically relevant aspects of pediatric psychopharmacology for the treatment of ADHD, depression, and anxiety disorders. Presenting symptoms of these common disorders are covered and the role of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments explored. Literature review and discussion focuses on medication selection, initiation, titration, and management. In addition, management of medications for bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, pervasive developmental disorders, and aggression are addressed. As a result of awareness of recent research and the application of practical clinical information pertaining to pediatric psychopharmacology, a positive impact is anticipated for patients being treated in primary care settings.
