Workshop 3 (sold out)
Normal Development: A Review with Video Examples

Using active discussion of short video examples of two children as they grow up, participants achieve a better understanding of major developmental theories from birth through adolescence; and educators become familiar with the use of stimulus videotape as a teaching methodology that incorporates active demonstration and encourages discussion. The Workshop is based upon two 10-year stimulus video projects that follow two children from birth. The videos provide examples of temperament, cognition, morality, gross and fine motor activity, verbal ability, attachment, separation-individuation, normal anxiety, and more, utilizing both formal and informal assessment and observation. Academic, social, and family arenas are addressed. Teaching normal development using stimulus video of children growing up is an effective way to bring teaching points to life, engage students, and enhance learning and retention.
