Workshop 18 (sold out)
Understanding Learning Disorders: Implications for Psychiatric Practice
Child and adolescent patients often present with complex psychiatric and learning disorders. It is important that the child and adolescent psychiatrist has a solid understanding of the characteristics and presentation of learning disorders and their effect on behavior, processing, and functioning. This Workshop increases the participants’ understanding of various types of learning disabilities and enhances their ability to incorporate this information into the diagnostic and treatment process. Case studies are used to outline and discuss the psychoeducational diagnostic process, applications to the treatment process, and strategies for developing a collaborative treatment plan in the school.
