Workshop 44 (ticket)
Incorporating Infant Mental Health Into a Child and Adolescent Fellowship Program: Overcoming Challenges
This Workshop provides strategies for participants to incorporate infant mental health into child and adolescent psychiatry programs in order to address the importance of early intervention and prevention. Infant mental health research indicates a significant cost benefit in effecting change in relationships in infancy and early childhood. Child and adolescent psychiatrists trained in infant mental health provide direct clinical services to young children and families, consult to community and state agencies, consult to juvenile courts, consult to pediatrics, train mental health professionals in a variety of disciplines, conduct research on early brain and behavioral development, and evaluate the efficacy and effectiveness of early interventions. Resources and avenues to collaborate on incorporating infant mental health into training programs are outlined.
