International Medical Graduates in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry: Adaptation, Training, and Contributions

Among psychiatrists practicing in the United States, International Medical Graduates (IMGs) constitute thirty percent of the workforce. In order to better understand the needs of IMGs, it is important to remember the IMGs have experienced a life-changing event by moving to the United States. Participants lean about the strengths, challenges, and unique professional needs of IMGs at various stages of professional development, as well as strategies to improve IMGs adaptation, training, and quality of life. Professional resources and networking opportunities specifically addressing the needs of IMGs are presented.
