Master Clinician Christopher R. Thomas, M.D.: Neuro-developmental Aspects of Antisocial Behavior
Christopher R. Thomas, M.D., a distinguished fellow of the AACAP, is the Robert L. Stubblefield Professor of Child Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas. He has been on the faculty since 1992, currently serving as the assistant dean for Graduate Medical Education and the director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Training Program. His research focuses on forensic child and adolescent psychiatry, gangs, and antisocial behavior in youth; psychiatric care for pediatric burn survivors; and development of mental health care systems for children using community-based and telemedicine approaches. He is chair of the AACAP Rights and Legal Matters Committee; assistant editor of the Psychiatry Residency Training Exam of the American College of Psychiatrists; and chair of the Review Committee for Psychiatry of the American Council for Graduate Medical Education. He has received numerous honors including the Sandoz Award, the AACAP Rieger Service Program Award for Excellence, and the AACAP Catchers in the Rye Award for child advocacy. In this breakfast, Dr. Thomas discusses the neuro-developmental aspects of aggression and antisocial behavior with respect to clinical care and policy.
