The Poster Docent: A Guided Tour of Selected AACAP Posters
This year’s AACAP Annual Meeting introduces a new program related to the New Research Poster Sessions. The New Research Poster Subcommittee of AACAP's Program Committee selected Jonathan Posner, M.D., a research psychiatrist, to be the "Poster Docent" and lead a discussion illustrating some important points about functional neuroimaging. As in a museum tour, the “poster docent” pulls together for the attendees the poster content theme, presents on how to view the posters to get the best understanding of the methods and results, and discusses how the posters move the field forward. Dr. Posner will use nine posters about neuroimaging to discuss methodology, research design, sample size, preparation of the patient and family, challenges of getting scanner time, examples of costs involved, the data analysis required to generate the images as well as how to interpret the findings statistically. Using the posters, Dr. Posner will highlight the key features reviewers consider when they evaluate functional neuroimaging studies. Attendees can then view the posters throughout the meeting in the various poster sessions; Poster Docent posters are noted online and in the Program Book.
