Best Practices for Early Intervention and Treatment for Trauma Survivors in School: Psychological First Aid and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

This Workshop focuses on early intervention with trauma survivors and on the identification and treatment of children and adolescents with posttraumatic stress disorder in school behavioral health programs. A multidisciplinary team of military psychiatrists and a clinical psychologist from the Army School Behavioral Health Program present best practices for assessing trauma in child and adolescent trauma survivors and provide an understanding of how to apply Psychological First Aid in school settings after a traumatic event. Discussion includes how best to help schools become more informed about the signs and symptoms of trauma.
