Workshop 2 (sold out)
Collaboration with Primary Care: Developing Clinical Skills, Overcoming System Challenges

With increasing demand for access to mental health care, primary care pediatricians, family physicians, and nurse practitioners are increasingly involved in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with simple, as well as complex, mental health problems. An evolving role for child and adolescent psychiatrists is to serve as consultants and mentors. In this Workshop, participants are introduced to models for collaboration with primary care, discuss strategies for managing relationships with primary care in order to be an integrated consultant providing education, guidance, and collaborative care; and explore methods for overcoming systemic and administrative barriers to the implementation of collaborative practice models.
