Family Assessment and Creative Interventions: An Integrative Approach of Systemic Family Interventions for a Busy and Smart Clinician

With the advent of first-line, empirically-supported, family interventions for many disorders, such as bipolar, major depression, delinquency, and eating disorders, child and adolescent psychiatrists and clinicians benefit from becoming familiar with practical Systemic Family Interventions (SFI). This workshop illustrates the use of cardinal SFI, without the use of extra time, in a busy practice of both an early career psychiatrist and a seasoned clinician. Principles of family assessment are reviewed and participants become familiar with practical application of various SFI, such as family rituals, prescribing symptoms, and circular questions. Participants develop a holistic approach to providing well-balanced, individual, systemic, and biological care to patients.
