The Poster Docent: A Guided Tour of Selected AACAP Posters: Opportunities for Child Psychiatry in the New World of Population Health Management

AACAP is pleased to once again offer The Poster Docent, a program related to the New Research Poster Sessions. The New Research Poster Subcommittee of AACAP's Program Committee  has selected Michael Jellinek, M.D. to be the "Poster Docent" and lead a discussion illustrating some important points on population health management. Like a museum tour, the "poster docent" pulls together the poster content theme, presents on how to view the posters to get the best understanding of the methods and results, and discusses how the posters move the field forward. Attendees can then view the posters throughout the meeting in the various poster sessions.

The economic pressures of raising health care costs, the Affordable Care Act, and the general direction of local and federal government actions indicate that there will be a substantial change in the reimbursement system for healthcare services.  Although the pace of change is unclear it is likely that over the next 3-5 years risk contracting and Population Health Management will replace some or most of fee for service reimbursement.  This talk discusses the transition and serves as a frame work for approximately seventeen posters accepted to AACAP's Annual Meeting.
