Improving Usual Care With Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Youth: A Transdiagnostic Tool Box

Recent reviews of psychosocial treatment-as-usual of children in community mental health settings yield a statistical effect size near zero. Modular transdiagnostic cognitive behavioral methods may provide a solution to this dilemma of efficacy and effectiveness. These models are built to appreciate complex co-morbidities that are common in clinical practice. After an explanation of common psychopathological pathways, specific methods, explicitly targeting these psychopathological processes, are described and demonstrated. Participants acquire a set of modularized cognitive behavioral therapy based approaches and learn to apply these techniques in clinical sessions with children and adolescents.
