Workshop 16 (ticket)
Hello, Hello? Two Critical Uses of Phone Consultation to Primary Care

Consultation with primary care providers is an increasingly important skill for child and adolescent psychiatrists. This Workshop presents and demonstrates two consultative methods of interacting with primary care providers. Attendees learn an effective format for running a conference call designed to teach primary care providers skills in diagnosing and treating mental health disorders; an ideal format for reinforcement of information learned in an intensive diagnosis and treatment course, including evidence-based psychopharmacology interventions appropriate for a primary care setting. Participants also learn an approach to one-on-one clinical phone consultation to make the best use of the service and avoid common pitfalls.
