Retirement: Different Strokes for Different Folks

Retirement. It is a life phase most child and adolescent psychiatrists face at some point and it can be challenging. There is no “right” way to handle retirement. Individual situations and circumstances vary widely, but to make the process less daunting, it helps to understand the psychological challenges faced when transitioning from a full-time professional identity to retired status. Several child and adolescent psychiatrists share their stories and reflect on their own transition to retirement and how they solved the psychological challenges they encountered. Come be acquainted with the many different approaches to retirement and how others have coped with the transition.
