Clinical Case Conference 12 (open)
Addressing the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children

One of the severest forms of human trafficking is sex trafficking of a child who has not attained the age of 18, in which a sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion. This CCC provides an overview of the enormous scope of and driving force behind the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC), both boys and girls, nationally and internationally; and explores the need to develop intervention and prevention models. Participants gain awareness of the unique treatment challenges facing this population and are introduced to promising models for effective treatment. Additional topics include risk factors, federal initiatives, resources and funding needs, gaps in service delivery, improvement in recognition of victims, development of evidence-based treatment modalities and sustainable collaborations for treatment, and the need for validated outcome measures.
