Town Meeting: Integration, Collaboration, and the Medical Home: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Affordable Care Act

The passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA) brought with it the potential to radically alter the delivery of healthcare within the United States. The implementation of the ACA is shifting the way mental health care is structured, delivered, evaluated, and reimbursed. Now is the time to discover the changes underway across the country and how you can be part of the new model.

This Town Meeting focuses on the successes and challenges of child and adolescent psychiatrists (CAPs) joining and participating in a variety of medical home and collaborative care models with different settings across several key U.S. markets. Examples include consultative models in state supportive systems, integrated care through private healthcare systems, and collaborative care programs that support an academic mission. The emphasis is on letting AACAP members hear, examine, and discuss the importance and varied experiences of CAPs becoming involved in new payment, delivery, and quality models brought about by the Affordable Care Act.
