Workshop 23 (sold out)
Medical Monitoring and Management of Eating Disorders for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Patients with eating disorders often present on the surface as healthy and capable when they in fact may be very unwell and at high risk. Child and adolescent psychiatrists can play a major role in screening, monitoring, and managing medical complications of eating disorders in youth. Participants develop skills that enable them to assess medical signs and symptoms, discuss medical problems with families, work collaboratively with other providers, and navigate the healthcare system in order to insure children and adolescents are managed at the appropriate levels of medical care for their illnesses. The most up-to-date evidence-based information is presented regarding specialized eating disorder topics such as re-feeding syndrome, "diabulimia," and atypical anorexia.
