Member Forum 1 (open to all AACAP members)
International Medical Graduates in Child Psychiatry: Challenges and Opportunities

This Member Forum brings together International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and non-IMGs to promote mutual understanding that results in the best care for patients and their families. IMGs comprise nearly 30 percent of practicing psychiatrists in the United States and play a critical role in training and practice. This Member Forum discusses the numerous challenges IMGs face and provides information on a variety of approaches to help IMGs overcome these challenges. IMGs better understand how to achieve their goals, both clinical and personal. Non-IMGs gain appreciation for the struggles IMGs face and are better able to help IMGs meet these challenges. The result is IMGs and non-IMGs working together to provide effective and culturally sensitive care.
