Big Fears in Little Kids: Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Anxious 4 to 7 Year Old Children

Using case-based discussions, videotape, and active demonstration, attendees learn how to utilize effective treatment strategies, including effective adaption and utilization of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to treat anxiety disorders in young children. There is an overview of current treatment modalities for young anxious children, followed by active educational instruction in the use of a 12-week, group treatment program developed for use with anxious children and their parents. Attendees learn how to educate and work with parents so they can recognize and manage their child’s anxiety and develop and utilize anxiety hierarchies when working with their child.
