Clinical Consultation Breakfast 13 (sold out)
Best Practices in Complementary and Integrative Medicine

Child and adolescent psychiatrist often do not discuss the use of complementary and integrative medicine with their patients and families. This is likely due to lack of formal training and knowledge in this area; yet, the public often regards complementary and integrative medicines as safer than conventional psychiatric treatments, and they are commonly used, with or without the treating physician’s knowledge. In this CCB, clinical cases provide the springboard for discussion of complementary and integrative medicine interventions and the evidence base for these approaches. Participants gain a valuable addition to treatment options where alternatives to conventional treatments are desirable due to concerns about side effects with conventional treatments. In addition, they are able to avoid drug-supplement or supplement-supplement interactions and adverse reactions when prescribing.
