Moody Kids With ADHD: Optimizing Assessment and Treatment

ADHD may lead to major impairment and poor long term-outcomes when it occurs with comorbid psychiatric disorders. Persistent irritability is a hallmark symptom of pediatric depressive, bipolar, and disruptive mood dysregulation disorders. Participants learn practical and empirically supported strategies for accurately assessing these disorders among their moody patients with ADHD. Pharmacological and psychosocial treatment strategies for these comorbid mood problems are discussed. Participants have the chance to review useful rating scales and treatment algorithms, and participate in group discussions of illustrative cases; putting them in a better position to diagnose and treat ADHD patients with comorbid mood problems in their clinical practice.
