Master Clinician: Steve R. Pliszka, MD: Psychopharmacology is More Than Just Prescribing Medication: What Neuroscience Teaches Us About Patient Care

According to Steve R. Pliszka, MD, over the last three decades of his career, psychiatry has become more grounded in neuroscience and evidenced based interventions. How do we utilize these valuable insights in the care of individual patients? As neuroscience elucidates the impact of parenting and environment on the developing brain, how should this impact our interactions with patients? In this Clinical Consultation Breakfast, Dr. Pliszka describes changing practice patterns of the last 30 years, discusses several cases that illustrate the new challenges we face, and tries to anticipate how advances in neuroimaging and genetic will change the practice of clinicians.
