I've Got Silver in the Moon and Gold in the Noonday Sun: The Nonpecuniary Pleasures of Rural Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
One of the stresses for rural child and adolescent psychiatrists is the lack of colleagues in rural areas. Providing a forum in which rural child and adolescent psychiatrists can discuss issues arising in their own practice makes it possible for them to make changes in their practice that can enable them to continue in rural practice. Participants become aware of the importance of negotiating contracts that are supportive to their practice in a rural setting, as well as becoming acquainted with sources of support for rural child and adolescent psychiatrists, both in their rural community and those available from AACAP. This year includes a discussion of the advantages and stresses of rural child psychiatry for female child psychiatrists.
