This Workshop offers hands-on experience with the mentalizing-based treatment (MBT) approach to therapy. Participants gained knowledge regarding how mentalizing theory and practice is built upon the latest attachment and affect regulation neuroscience research, and learn basic skills in utilizing a mentalizing therapy approach when working with adolescents who have disruptive behaviors and emerging personality disorders. Presenters discuss the mentalizing framework, how to assess mentalizing strengths and impairments, and core approaches used in therapy. After viewing videotaped clinical material, participants break into small groups to practice adopting a mentalizing treatment approach to therapy.
