Child and adolescent psychiatry researchers working in the area of HIV present the changing epidemiology of HIV and discuss the subgroups of adolescents at particular risk, especially in regard to substance use and mental health disorders. HIV prevention and eradication are likely achievable goals in the coming years, but child and adolescent psychiatrists and other mental health professionals have a critical role to play in this process. Attendees learn about new research supporting an integrative and technology-supported model for HIV prevention and treatment, and acquire new approaches for engaging youth in HIV prevention, as well as the ways that addressing comorbidities like substance use can reduce HIV risk.
