This Workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), orienting child and adolescent psychiatrists and other mental health professionals in the basic tenets and theory of DBT and its usefulness in clinical practice with suicidal adolescents and those who self-harm. Topics covered include commitment to treatment, treatment targets, phone coaching, DBT consultation team, family involvement, skills group, and skills review. Attendees view and discuss videos demonstrating DBT and practice DBT techniques via active role-play situations. Attendees leave feeling more comfortable integrating aspects of DBT into their own clinical practice.
