Child sexual abuse case reports inform professionals, the public, and policy makers about the scope and nature of sexual abuse and have contributed greatly to the growing awareness of and approaches to dealing with the complex challenges surrounding this topic. Because of their importance, case reports involving child sexual abuse must be accurate. Discussion of case reports illustrates the importance of memory, testimonial capacities, and vulnerability of young child witnesses when preparing a report of sexual abuse. Attendees explore the ethical and legal issues involved in reporting, discuss ways that case reports are misused or potentially misleading, and learn about methods of assuring the accuracy of published case information.
