Women entering the field of child and adolescent psychiatry can benefit from special mentoring from senior female child and adolescent psychiatrists in order to make the most practical and fulfilling career choices. Often, it can be difficult identifying a mentor in the community. This Member Services Forum specifically provides national mentoring for female residents and early career child and adolescent psychiatrists. The focus this year is on special mentoring for those interested in academic, community, and/or private practice psychiatry; the different considerations for each practice setting; and personal factors that may shape career selection.
