Women are often paid less than their male colleagues in many professions, including physician specialties. During any phase of their professional life, women child and adolescent psychiatrists benefit from knowing strategies for successfully negotiating contracts in diverse practice settings, such as private practice, community agencies, and universities. Both professional and personal needs are explored as key considerations for career advancement and satisfaction. Participants are invited to complete a personal inventory and a template for a competitive curriculum vita. The importance of mentorship in contract negotiations and professional development is discussed and participants can fill out an application for the AACAP Mentorship Network.
