Master Clinician: David A. Brent, MD: Adolescent Suicidal Behavior, Non-Suicidal Self-Harm, and Treatment-Resistant Depression
David A. Brent, MD is the Academic Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, holds an Endowed Chair in Suicide Studies, and directs Services for Teens at Risk, a clinic for depressed and suicidal adolescents. His research has focused on identifying individual and familial risk factors for depression and adolescent suicidal behavior and developing and testing evidence-based treatments for depression and suicidal behavior. He has helped to establish the role of cognitive-behavior therapy for the treatment and prevention of adolescent depression, and has helped to shape guidelines on the management of treatment resistant depression and suicidal behavior. In this workshop, he will offer consultation on cases of adolescents with suicidal behavior, non-suicidal self-harm, and/or treatment resistant depression.
