CLINICAL PERSPECTIVES present a particular topic related to treatment, research method, service delivery, or clinical care, which includes evidence-based materials as well as the "art" and clinical wisdom of the practice of child and adolescent psychiatry. Clinical Perspectives are similar to Symposia. While Symposia emphasize presentation of original research reports, Clinical Perspectives may include historical information, case presentations, systematic observations, methodology, descriptions of systems of care, etc. Clinical Perspectives are organized around a common theme, and provide an opportunity for discussion by experts who approach an issue from slightly different, but complementary perspectives, or discussion of a controversial topic by experts with differing views. It is the recommendation of the Program Committee that presenters will come from different institutions. However, if all speakers are from the same site, then a discussant from another site should be included.

Clinical Perspectives are 2.5 hours in duration and ideally consist of 4 individual presentations, each approximately 20 to 25 minutes long, with additional time utilized as needed for a discussant summary, participant questions, and open discussion. Depending on the topic, the Program Committee will at times consider submissions that consist of only 3 individual presentations. Although not required, the Program Committee looks favorably on inclusion of an independent discussant able to integrate and critique individual presentations and summarize their clinical implications, particularly if information presented is new or controversial. The session chair is responsible for insuring that the amount of individual presentation content is appropriate for the available time frame and for keeping speakers on schedule. Clinical Perspectives have a maximum of 6 presenters, including chair and discussant.

All accepted submissions must display full disclosure slides to the audience. Submissions about clinical techniques should include a brief description of or reference to the scientific evidence for and limitations of the treatment technique. Approximately 60 Clinical Perspectives spaces are available.
