WORKSHOP
Session Length: 3 hours
Number of Presenters: 1-3

FORMAT

A Workshop provides the audience with a hands-on, focused learning experience that provides instruction in a particular clinical, research, or other technique for debate or discussion among a small audience. The objective for workshops should be “tell the audience what you are going to teach them”, the methods should be “how you are going to teach it, including who will teach what, whether there will be handouts etc.,” and results should be how they will be able to use the knowledge.

A Workshop is 3 hours long and provides instruction on treatment, research method, delivery, or organization of services.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Workshops are ticketed events. Attendance is limited to 30 participants in addition to the presenter(s).

Successful submissions will clearly define the topic, the goals and the methods, specifying the contribution of each presenter. They will provide clear educational goals and indicate how the Workshop will achieve these goals. They will also provide a specific description of teaching materials and a timetable for the workshop.

Each submission must provide a clear description of the method of teaching that will be used as well as a specific description of teaching materials (e.g. video clips, evidence-based treatment manuals, handouts, rating scales, etc.). Submissions about clinical techniques should include a brief description of or reference to the scientific evidence for and limitations of the treatment technique. This is not the forum to spend all the time presenting evidence.

To help defray the costs of providing handout materials to participants, the Program Chair may claim up to $75 for reimbursement (upon submitting receipts for approval). In addition, presenters will also be able to upload their presentation materials to AACAP's website before the meeting for registered participants. All accepted submissions must display full disclosure slides to the audience.
