Teaching Pediatricians: What to Do and What Not to Do
Primary care physicians, and particularly pediatricians, see patients in their practices that have psychiatric disorders. Continuing medical education feedback indicates they value teaching that results in a direct impact on their day-to-day clinical work with childhood mental illnesses. Child and adolescent psychiatrists who teach pediatricians need to be aware of the clinical relevance of teaching materials and the teaching models that appear to work best. This session reviews regional models for pediatric collaboration, and general guidelines and principals for teaching pediatricians, both in didactic and primary care settings.
