Clinical Consultation Breakfast 8 (sold out)
Early Career Psychiatrists and Community-Based Systems of Care
Whether early career psychiatrists treat children in the public mental health system, private practice, or in community agencies, systems of care principles can help inform both clinical and administrative decisions. Yet, after leaving formal training, early career psychiatrists often have little support for professional development in this area and are left to learn largely by trial and error. This CCB provides a forum for clinical and administrative case discussion that is tailored to early career psychiatrists serving or interested in consultative or leadership roles within systems of care for children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances. This forum offers the opportunity to discuss specific clinical cases through the “lens” of systems of care principals: child-centered, family-driven, strength-based, and culturally competent care that involves interagency collaborations. The consultative and leadership role for child and adolescent psychiatrists with state agencies, juvenile justice systems, and primary care settings are addressed and attendees are invited to bring their own clinical cases or administrative dilemmas for discussion.
