It’s Not Over illustrates issues facing adolescents and young adults living with HIV/AIDS worldwide. The feeling that HIV/AIDS is now mostly a disease of the past and largely curable has led to a lack of knowledge and experience in dealing with issues of sexually transmitted diseases in youth, including HIV/AIDS. This documentary poignantly illustrates that this pandemic is one that continues to affect young lives, not just worldwide, but nationally. The film provides the context for much needed discussion of the role of psychiatrists and pediatricians in prevention of HIV/AIDS, including identifying, educating, and treating high risk youth; reducing stigma; treating psychiatric symptoms and drug use related to high risk behavior; and dissemination of information about pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis.
