Presenters define geek culture, identify subsets of the culture and their characteristics, and outline the reasons for its mass appeal with children and adolescents. Interventions covered are cosplay, or costume play, and its uses clinically as an extension of anxiety treatment and possible inclusion as a method of exposure therapy; geek-themed bibliotherapy and use of fanfiction as a potential subset of expressive therapy for treatment of mood and developmental issues; cinematherapy, as well as its uses in clinical practice when teaching psychological concepts and interventions; and superhero therapy and how it can be used in the education and treatment of children and adolescents.
