Psychiatric disorders that occur after a child or adolescent sustains a traumatic brain injury (TBI) pose major challenges to community re-entry and quality of life for children and families. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) mandates educators provide services to children with TBI. This Workshop presents research findings related to pediatric TBI and psychiatric disorders and symptoms. Attendees increase their knowledge of phenomenology, risk factors, and treatments for psychiatric disorders associated with TBI in children and adolescents; and are introduced to educational interventions and models of collaboration between psychiatrists and education specialists that can enhance school reintegration and school function.
