Over 92 percent of the youth child and adolescent psychiatrists treat today spend an average of nine hours per day connected to the Internet, making it is essential to understand the virtual world many patients are immersed in. It is also important to know how building a professional identity on the Internet can have potentially positive or negative consequences. Participants gain knowledge and understanding of common social media applications; understand online gaming and how to address it in clinical practice; gain knowledge and skills to optimize use of the Internet professionally; and explore the use of texting by clinicians and how new services that involve therapy exclusively by text are being marketed to consumers.
