Master Clinician: James T. McCracken, MD: Challenges in Autism Spectrum Disorder Treatment and Research
Dr. McCracken is a Professor and Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the UCLA Semel Institute, and Director of the Child and Adult Neurodevelopmental (CAN) Clinic at UCLA. He is well known for his involvement in intervention research in a variety of childhood onset mental disorders, and has authored over 300 publications, most relating to his engagement in treatment research. Dr. McCracken will discuss the rapid evolution of treatment research in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), describe the state of the evidence base for common ASD interventions (medications, early intervention, targeted psychosocial treatments), and provide examples of treatment choices for challenging children and adults with serious behavioral problems.
